PTC-MIT Joint Development of Extended Reality Platform for Smart Factories 2021.10.07



[Seoul=Global News Agency] PTC Korea and MIT (CEO Min Byung-soo), a smart factory solution company, signed a strategic business agreement on the 6th to develop XR-based integrated platform solutions for remote diagnosis, control, safety management, and facility maintenance.

 

MIT Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as MIT) is a company specializing in supplying intelligent solutions for smart manufacturing innovation to various customer groups in shipbuilding, oil, chemical, plant, and construction machinery fields. Through this cooperation, MIT plans to develop an XR platform tailored to manufacturing characteristics by industry based on PTC's IIoT platform ‘ThingWorx’ and AR solution ‘Vuforia’ and cooperate in joint sales and marketing to discover new use cases.

PTC's ‘Thingworrx’ is a platform designed to build industrial IoT solutions on an enterprise-wide scale, offering a variety of advantages in optimizing business processes, improving manufacturing management, and modernizing on-site service delivery. In the IIoT platform Magic Quadrant report published by Gartner, PTC was recognized for its highest vision completeness and was listed as a leader company. Meanwhile, the ‘Beautiful ’ platform for industrial augmented reality is a product that has received excellent reviews from industry analysts in both width and depth of function. It supports fast, simple, and rich functional AR content development, which enables companies to increase the safety and efficiency of their work environment, reduce costs, and improve customer experience.

Min Byung-soo, CEO of MIT, who is also a new Korean intellectual, expects that “PTC will provide strong digital capabilities to the domestic manufacturing industry market as it has secured various advanced cases using IoT and AR technologies. We plan to focus on developing customized solutions so that XR technology, which is called the next-generation Internet, can be widely used in industrial sites.
